This weekend marked the second and final weekend of the YOO-HOO! Festival. Yesterday, mahina, Ai Higuchi, Yoshiko Hanzaki, Kayoko Yoshizawa, Takao Tajima (Original Love), Mao Abe, and Chris Hart performed on the main stage, while ISEKI (ex member of Kimaguren), GAKU-MC, Anly, KEYTALK, Gospellers, and Sukima Switch appeared on stage today. The Gospellers (pictured) had the audience hyped up even before the show started, and performed six songs, including “Hitori,” “Mimosa,” and “Towa-Ni.”.

With COVID being officially downgraded to a Class 5 disease on 5/8 (Mon.), this year the audience was able to sing and cheer out loud. Approximately 2,000 tickets were sold over the last two days, and the open area in front of the main stage was packed with spectators (pictured). ISEKI (pictured), who is also the producer of the event, commented, “I’m really glad that the response has been so good.”

Anly, who was the third performer on this last day, performed six songs including “Star Win,” which is a collaboration with Sukima Switch that serves as the ending theme song of of the Sunday TV drama “Shikaku Tantei Higurashi Tabito.” The song was perofrmed together with the members of Sukima Switch at the very end of the day, just after Sukima Switch’s set.

The energy of the crowd was at its peak for the last two acts, Gospellers and Sukima Switch; two groups that have performed numerous times during NHK’s famous New Year’s musical showcase “Kohaku Uta Gassen.” While Sukima Switch performed songs such as “View,” “Guarana,” “Amemachi Kaze,” “Kanade,” and others, light rain began to fall and I wondered what that would mean for their set, but they mesmerized the audience by proceeding with only vocals and piano while their other equipment was being protected from the rain. The crowd was dazzled by the performance of their hit song “Zenryoku Shonen,” which was joined by ISEKI and GAKU-MC.
