For the summer season, CHAVATY HAKUBA is now offering “Summer Lyrical Mint Tea Soda” using the Summer Lyrical variety of strawberries developed in Nagano Prefecture and “Hakuto Oolong Soft Cream,” which combines an original variety of white peach from Okayama Prefecture with frozen Oolong Tea. I spoke with a couple of visitors from Saitama Prefecture (pictured), who commented, “Both the tea soda and soft serve are delicious, and it’s such a treat to be able to enjoy them with this view.”

Elsewhere, the “Sky Trampoline” (*JPY1,000 per each 3-minute session) is open daily on the grassy lawn in front of SKYARK until 8/27 (Sun.). A young girl from Otari Village (pictured) told me it was very fun and that she wanted to do it again. The attraction is usable by anyone between 3 and 60 years old and weighing between 15 and 60 kg.

Today a “Hakuba Music Seminar” was held starting at 11:00 at a special venue set up in a corner of the outdoor “Forest Office” teleworking space. The seminar was led by Masayuki Kino, a soloist and concertmaster for the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. During the 40-minute masterclass, Mr. Kino played the violin in the beech forest for the students.

The heat wave that has gripped Japan following the end of the rainy season is continuing unabated, and this morning the Ministry of the Environment issued a heat stroke alert for 41 of 47 prefectures. In Hakuba, while the temperature at the foot of the mountain was rising rapidly, the summit of Iwatake was a cool 21℃ at 8:30 a.m. Visitors coming off the gondola and 5-Sen South line (pictured) commented, “It feels so nice and cool. It’s like being transported somewhere else!”
