Obon holidays started on 8/11 (Fri), a national holiday called the mountain’s day in Japan. Tsugaike Ropeway (=Tsugaike Gondola + Tsugaike Ropeway) is open at 7:00 a.m. everyday until 8/20 (Sun). Under the clear sky, the coolness and refreshing air on the highland wetland made me more energetic this early morning in Mizubasho Marsh (Photo).

Yachitorikabuto (Photo) which is the flower of the midsummer to late summer was bloooming beautifully in the marshes from Mizubasho to Ukishima Marsh. This alpine flower which has a characteristic petals look like bird comb holds poison at its roots. Other flowers are also in good season, such as Onishiogama, Tateyamaazami, Miyamashishiudo, Ohanaudo in Mizubasho Marsh, Oyamarindo from Kusugawa River to Mousen Pond.

The clouds appeared gradually from 9:00 a.m. and the sunlight was blocked sometimes after that. I kept walking toward Tenbo Marsh with little breaks at tree shades, Huketsu and Ginmeisui. I could see much more people from 10:00 a.m, so I often walked by families and groups on my way back.

At the bright green field of Ukishima Marsh, I spent a relaxing time while looking at mountains of the Northern Alps and ponds on a bench. Around my feet, Iwashobu bloomed with its white cute flowers. By the way, “MIKKETA!” and “Be a Ranger Saving Nature” are held until 8/31 (Thu). Now, Iwashobu and Oyamarindo are blooming along the wood paths, so it is a good time for children to take photos of them at these events.
