The HAKUBA YOO-HOO! FESTIVAL was held in May, attracting a record number of approximately 9,000 visitors over a nine-day period. Of that total, the entire lot of 2,000 tickets were sold out for the live music performances held in front of SKYARK (pictured) on 5/27 (Sat.) and 5/28 (Sun.). With that success, the dates for next year’s event have been locked in for 5/18 (Sat.) to 5/26/2024 (Sun.)!

As we’ve entered September, morning and evening temperatures are noticeably cooler, and the air on the mountain is beginning to feel more like autumn even during the daytime. Blue skies dominated as the gondola began operation in the morning, but clouds began to fill the voide by 9:00 a.m. (pictured). HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR was filled with chatter, with visitors expressing admiration for the cool air and the beautiful mountain scenery spreading out before them.

There was a large contigent of families all across the resort on this sunny Sunday. Children could be seen playing disc golf and teqball (a sport that combines table tennis and soccer) in the CHUMS RIDGE area (pictured), while others ran around on the grass in high spirits; the sound of their laughter echoing in the air.

In other news, a series of flute concerts by Miyu Sakaguchi, complimented by 360° panoramic views, will be held in the summit beech forest area (pictured, back left) on 9/23 (Sat.) and 10/7 (Sat.). The free performances will take place from 11:00 to 13:00, with each lasting roughly 30 minutes. Today the beech forest was comfortably cool, and the most relaxing spot I visited at Iwatake.
