The day-use hot spring facility Iwatake-no-Yu (pictured), which is open during Iwatake’s summer operating period (4/28 to 11/12), gets its smooth, mineral-rich waters from the Hakuba Himekawa hot spring water source. The spring is reputed to be good for back pain, muscle pain, stiff shoulders, whiplash, poor circulation, and skin health. (*Adults ¥600, Children 3 to 12 ¥300)

The sauna established last year (pictured) adjacent to the main bathhouse utilizes wood from kuromoji, a deciduous shrub from Nagano Prefecture. As you enter, you can smell the deep herb-like fragrance, that is typical of other products made from kuromoji such as high-grade toothpicks and tea. In other news, the rainy season officially ended in the Hakuba area yesterday.

Today the trails of the Hakuba Iwatake MTB PARK (pictured) were dry and in good condition overall, though there were some areas with unstable stones. Today, the OMM LITE/BIKE HAKUBA, OTARI 2023 event was held at the foot of the mountain, so the Skill Up Area was closed and the area around the end of the Alps Downhill course was narrowed to accommodate event booths and other infrastructure.

Over at Hakuba Hitotoki-no-Mori, a scenic and relaxing yoga session was held on the grassy area overlooking the Northern Alps (pictured, free of charge, yoga mat rental available for free). At 10:30 a.m., a total of 14 participants could be seen working with Wave Stretch Rings. These yoga sessions are scheduled weekly on Sundays, as well as on 8/11 (Fri.), 8/12 (Sat.), 8/14 (Mon.), and 8/15 (Tue.) during the month of August.
