With the opening of the Prefectural Route 322 Hakuba-dake Line on 4/25 (Thu.), the 2024 Hakuba Daisekkei (白馬大雪渓) climbing season has begun. Following the official mountain opening festivities on 5/25 (Sat.), mountain huts in the Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range will begin to open around mid-June, and the start of the peak climbing season will coincide with the post-Golden Week re-opening of Sarukuraso (pictured) on 6/29 (Sat.). Finally, bus service between JR Hakuba Station and Sarukura will kick off on 7/13 (Sat.).

Location … Nagano-ken, Kita Azumi-gun, Hakuba-mura Sarukura (Mt. Shirouma Trailhead)
Transportation … Bus from JR Hakuba Station to Sarukura (¥1,000 each way)
Parking … Space for approx. 200 cars. *If the parking lot fills up, an overflow parking area (space for 100 cars) will be opened around 100 meters away from the main parking lot entrance.
