Thin clouds spread across the sky to start the morning. Currently, the Hakuba Hitotoki-no-mori (pictured) area features the Hakuba Giant Swing, as well as table and chair sets, hammocks, and teqball tables that can be used freely, as well as decorative mirrored objects. CHAVATY HAKUBA (pictured, right), a tea latte and freshly baked scone specialty store, is now open for the duration of the 5Sen lift operating period.

Today I tried CHAVATY HAKUBA’s Blueberry Scones (pictured), made with puree from blueberries grown in Nagano. The moist filling and mild sweetness were delicious, and made the perfect compliment to the refined aroma of my classic iced bottle tea latte (Uji matcha). [*Note: The “Blueberry Milk Tea” sold out on 5/26 (Sun.)]

The ever-popular Yoo-Hoo! Swing (pictured) is less crowded on weekday mornings, making it an ideal time to visit. I spoke with a couple from Miyagi Prefecture (pictured) who told me, “We have visited Nagano several times, but this is our first time at Iwatake, and we came because we wanted to try the Yoo-Hoo! Swing.” By the way, if you want a bit more speed, the staff are happy to give you a push upon request.

HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR (pictured) is also best visited on weekday mornings. The majestic views of the Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range, the fresh spring foliage, and the cool May breeze made for a pleasant experience today. THE CITY BAKERY, which opens at 9:00 a.m., offers popular items like pretzel croissant sandwiches, soups, and a variety of drinks. Pets are allowed on the terrace, but not in the indoor dining area.
