A refreshing breeze was blowing from the foot of the mountain across the terrace of Hitotoki-no-mori’s CHAVATY HAKUBA. There I spoke with a family from Kanagawa Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “We left home at 4:30 this morning to get here. Iwatake has amazing views, and the kuromoji soft serve (only available in Hakuba) is delicious.

I was greeted by a man from Nagano’s Ueda City, who told me he was a fan of Snownavi, and added, “I having fun mountain biking with my son today. I’m a season ticket holder for the Iwatake MTB park, which is a great deal because it comes with five half-price one-day tickets that can be used by a companion, and other benefits like 10% off the menu at Hakuba DELI and Skyark Deck Café.”

The Yoo-hoo! Swing was as popular as ever, and there was a long line of people waiting for their turn. I met two visitors from Aichi Prefecture, with one commenting, “We came here for the swing, and it was a lot of fun! And From P, where we stayed last night, was stylish and had a sauna, so it was pretty great, too! I fell for my boyfriend even more since he chose the perfect places.”

On hot days, a nice option is to use the air-conditioned eat-in space (pictured) at THE CITY BAKERY. The window seats offer the same view of the majestic Northern Alps as the terrace while you enjoy your meal or take a break. Skyark is of course another air-conditioned option near the summit area, and there’s even a pet-friendly space at the far right as you enter.
