With the opening of Pochadas, a fun attraction on pond water from Northern Alps snowmelt, on 7/20 (Sat.), Hakuba Tsugaike WOW! is now fully open! This year, 11 new floating features were added to increase the fun. On this sunny day with a spattering of clouds, excited voices could be heard echoing through the air right from the start of business.

In addition, a new Cycle Park will open on 8/1 (Thu.) within WOW! The park will consist of a beginner cycling course, a beginner downhill course, an obstacle practice zone, an intermediate skill improvement area, and a dog & cycle area. I ran into a staff member of SPICY (pictured), the company that will operate the park, and her dog Fuku-chan, who were doing a test run of the Dog & Cycle course. (*Course fee: adults starting at JPY2,000, elementary school students and younger from JPY1,500.)

I spoke with a girl from Saitama Prefecture (pictured) who tried Tobidas, and was told with a smile, “It was a little scary, but fun!” Starting tomorrow, 7/27 (Sat.), a Kid’s Playland will open in the Yuki-no-hiroba area for a limited time (*until 8/13). The facility will feature a ball pool and tunnel maze that can be used by children as young as under a year old. (*Accompanying adults JPY200, JPY800 yen for 0 y/o – 2nd grade elementary school for 30 minutes.)

Changing focuses, it was mostly cloudy in the Tsugaike Nature Park, so I was able to enjoy my walk without feeling too hot. A woman from Gunma Prefecture (pictured, left) told me, “Sorry, I couldn’t help but wave to the camera. I didn’t even realize at first that it was someone with Snownavi. I love your site! Please take a picture of me and my parents.”

＊Hours … Tsugaike Ropeway is open from 6:30 a.m. until 8/18, from 7:00 a.m. on 8/24, 8/25, and 8/31, and from 8:00 a.m. on 8/19 – 8/23 and 8/26 – 8/30.
＊Fees … Tsugaike Ropeway Roundtrip + Entrance Fee / Adults JPY3,700, Elementary School Students JPY2,100, Preschoolers Free → Advance Discount Tickets: Adults JPY3,300, Children JPY1,850! (No need to exchange at the ticket window! You can proceed straight to the gondola.)
