Tsugaike REPORT

2024.08.03Tsugaike Nature Park / Sunny

On 8/1 (Thurs.), a new Cycle Park opened at Hakuba Tsugaike WOW! A staff member of SPICY Rentals (pictured) told me, “We have mountain bikes, striders, and a variety of fun bikes for rent. Come give us a visit!” If you want to bring your own bike, you can use the parking area behind the yellow building (pictured), where the Cycle Park reception is located.

I spoke with a young girl from Saitama Prefecture (pictured, left) in the practice area, who told me, “It’s been a long time since I rode a bike. I’ll going to try and get the feel back as quickly as possible!” On the other hand, her younger brother (pictured, right), who is still unable to ride a bike, was nimbly navigating the park features on his strider. There is also an Intermediate Skill Up Area” at the back of the park.

Next to the “Dog & Cycle” area, where you and your dog can bike and run together, there is a dog run with separate areas for small to medium, and for medium to large-sized dogs. Around 10:00 a.m., before the area got more crowded, the dog run for smaller dogs was occupied only by Yuki the Shiba (pictured). I had a conversation with her owner from Saitama Prefecture (pictured, background) who commented, “We went to Iwatake yesterday. Hakuba is cool and there are many spots where you can enjoy with your dog! She told us, “Hakuba is refreshingly cool, and it’s great because there are many places I can go with my dog.”

The “Beginner Downhill Course” (pictured) is set up at the end of the Shirakaba Slope. Visitors ride up a paved forest road to the starting point, before enjoying the 400-meter downhill. There is also partially unpaved “Beginner Cycling Course” that circles around the Pochadas Pond.
