The weather has been generally cloudy since the end of the Obon holiday period. Once again this morning, customers were quick to arrive to HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR, and there was a long line of people waiting to take photos on the deck, where the dog can be seen in this photo. As such, the bridge at the entrance was divided into three lines: one for people taking commemorative photos, one for those simply accessing the deck, and one for people ordering food and drinks at THE CITY BAKERY.

The Buggy Cruise, which is a 15-minute ride to Iwatake’s best scenic spots, was a popular choice with groups and families. The buggy is driven by a guide, so you can enjoy the scenery while cruising carefree. Incidentally, here at pet-friendly Iwatake, pets can ride the buggy for free.

Over at the large grassy field in the Hakuba Hitotoki-no-mori area, I noticed people eating scones and drinking lattes bought from CHAVATY HAKUBA under the cover of the tarps and tents dotted around the lawn. There were also people enjoying disc golf, teqball, ring toss, slackline, and more in the same general area. Incidentally, CHAVATY HAKUBA is currently selling an Earl Grey tea soda made with Hakuba-grown blueberries (¥680).

I spoke with a family from Kanagawa Prefecture who had tried the Hakuba Giant Swing (pictured), and was told, “This is our first time at Iwatake. We had to grip the rope hard when the swing was first being pulled up by the winch, but the view is really amazing!” Afterwards, I saw them playing with their dog inside the dog run located at the entrance to Nezuko-no-mori.
