Kurohime REPORT

2024.09.07Kurohime Kogen / Cloudy

The cosmos inside the Kurohime Kogen Flower Garden (pictured) are now in full bloom, and will remain at their peak through to late September. As of 9/7 (Sat.), there are an abundance of flowers blooming along the panoramic lift, with 10 varieties of cosmos and 50 different types of dahlia. During the month of September, the admission fee to see both the cosmos and dahlia is ¥660 yen for humans and pets (dogs). (The admission drops to ¥550 in October, and ¥330 in November. Children 3 years old and under are free.)

The fields of cosmos have grown as tall as an adult, are fully bloomed, and in good condition. Not to mention, the September temperatures at Kurohime Kogen are really pleasant! It was cloudy before the park opened today at 10:00, but that was actually a good thing, as it allowed me to enjoy a leisurely stroll without sweating much.

I spoke to a family from Nagano City (pictured), who told me, “We came here three years ago and had a great time, so this year we brought our second daughter, who was born after that.” If you take the Panorama Lift, which costs JPY1,100 yen for adults and JPY550 yen for children (age three to elementary school) and dogs, you can enjoy looking down at the cosmos from your moving seat in the sky. In addition, there are excellent views of Lake Nojiri from the grassy lawn as you get off the lift.

I was in high spirits as I was enveloped in vibrant blossoms as I walked down the path in the area where a lot of the Sensation variety of cosmos flowers were in full bloom (pictured). With around 50 types of dahlia, there are plates showing the names of all the different varieties on site, and visitors can participate in the free “Dahlia General Election 2024” by casting a ballot for your favorite variety. Five people will be chosen by lottery from the total number of participants, and will receive a complimentary invitation ticket for the “Dahlia Bulb Digging” event scheduled for 11/3 (Sun.) and 11/4 (Mon.). Ballots are available in front of the ticket sales window.
