The “Happo Usagidaira Mountain Fes” was held on 9/28 (Sat.) & 9/29 (Sun.). Free outdoor cinema and talk shows were held during the day on 9/28 (Sat.), but the climax of the event came after dark. The third movie shown at the outdoor cinema was “Top Gun Maverick” (pictured), and all the available seats set up on the Oakley Terrace were quickly filled.

A fire show (pictured) by the fire and light entertainment group “Firebandit” kicked off at 7:20 p.m. I couldn’t take my eyes off the performers as they pulled off one flame-manipulating act after another. And, since I was able to watch the show up close, I could feel the heat of the fire and hear the sound of it crackling, which made the experience even more powerful.

The finale was a fireworks display held at a higher elevation than any other in Japan (i.e., the end of Usagidaira Slope). Unfortunately, the fireworks were not clearly visible due to the thick fog that had settled over the area before 8:00 p.m. Nevertheless, many people stayed until the end and seemed to enjoy the show as the faintly glowing fog and the sound of the powerful booms filled the venue.

A giant train set and ball pool were set up inside Yeti for children to play with free of charge, and a food area with ramen, crepes, and more was set up near the Alpen Quad. There was also a booth for making badges by YAMASTA and an area for roasting marshmallows by ALPS OUTDOOR SUMMIT. On the following day, 9/29 (Sun.), two trekking tours were held to Happo-ike pond; one led by mountain YouTubers Yamacook and Yagi-chan, and another by Sebastian, a co-host of NBS (Nagano Broadcasting Systems) show “Doyobi Wa Kore Da Ne!”

(No need to exchange at the ticket window! You can proceed straight to the gondola.) Kurobishi Line Roundtrip / Adults JPY2,000, Elementary School Students JPY1,300, Preschoolers Free.
