Iwatake REPORT

2024.10.01Hakuba Iwatake / Sunny

Today I spoke with a group of seven people from Okinawa, who told me, “The view from the top of Iwatake is truly amazing. By the way, we visited Tateyama Murodo yesterday, and the autumn leaves were at their peak.” In addition, two of them (pictured) who rode the Yoo-hoo! Swing commented, “It was harder than we thought to swing high, but it was really fun!”

The three major Hakuba peaks had been clearly visible in the early morning sky, but were cloaked by clouds around 9:30 (pictured). The cool autumn air makes this the perfect time of year for mountain biking! The four main mountain biking courses – Alps Downhill, Kamikaze Downhill, Hitotoki Downhill, and Cross-Country – as well as the Dual Pump track are all open.

It’s a good season for mountain biking, which means it’s also a good season for Mountain Carts (pictured). I gave it a shot today, and the low seating position as well as the strong vibrations made me feel like I was going even faster. At the finish line of the Mountain Cart course, Hakuba Hitotoki-no-mori, I met a couple from Tokyo there with their dog who said, “We stayed at the Hakuba Marriott last night, and this morning the hotel staff recommended that we come here to Iwatake. The scenery is really beautiful.”

I was greeted by a couple (pictured) from Aichi’s Nagoya City who told me they were fans of Snownavi. They were the first people I met at HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR that morning, and they mentioned, “Yesterday, we climbed up to the Maruyama Cairn in poor weather. This morning, it’s a beautiful clear day and we can see the mountains really well.” I’m looking forward to running into them somewhere again this winter!
