We’re down to the last five days of the summer season, which means that there are only five more chances to see the gondola “Noah” (pictured). Aam I the only one who feels a sense of nostalgia at the end of a gondola that has been a familiar sight for so many years?) As the morning progressed, the fog that had been hanging low in the sky began to lift, revealing clear blue skies.

There was still some snow clinging to the ridges of the Ushiro-Tateyama Mountain Range from the dump received on the morning of 11/7 (Thurs.). I spoke to a couple from Kanagawa Prefecture, who told me, “We come to Hakuba about twice a year. The Northern Alps are so beautiful covered in snow.” Despite it being a weekday, there were still a large number of visitors at HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR, and the line of people waiting to take photos at the end of the deck (pictured) was over 50 meters long.

The 5sen South Lift Line closed on 11/10 (Sun.), which also brought the seasonal end to CHAVATY HAKUBA, the Hakuba Giant Swing, Mountain Carts, and Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Field (campground). All Iwatake MTB PARK courses also closed on the same day. The beech trees at the summit, which had almost lost all their leaves (pictured), looked a little lonely, but combined with the warm weather, they created a pleasant atmosphere typical of late autumn in the mountains.

A family from Chiba Prefecture (pictured) commented, “The weather is nice and the temperature feels really good. We’ve been staying at the Marriott Hakuba since yesterday. We’re planning to go apple picking tomorrow.” The five-year-old daughter added, “Take more pictures!” and later posed for me like a model.
