The Okushiga Kogen Hotel, in conjunction with the Hotel Grand Phoenix Okushiga, which lies on Okushiga Kogen Ski Area’s First Slope, now has a shop managed directly by the mountain resort wear brand ZUICA. The store offers a wide range of ZUICA products, including the OKUSHIGA JACKET, which is designed for comfort and functionality both on the mountain and in town, as well as other items in the ZUICA lineup that can be tried on at your leisure. Additionally, a rental wear service allows you to test out ZUICA products on the slopes.

Coming from other ski resorts and traveling to the far end of Shiga Kogen, I was impressed by the beautiful nature and also by the snow that stretched all the way to the very bottom of the slopes. Currently, all lifts including the gondola are in operation, and all courses and the Free Line Park are still open. Furthermore, the closing time for all lifts has been extended by 15 minutes to 4:15 p.m., as of 3/11 (Sun.).

The groomed Third Slope, Expert Course, and Rinkan Course had hard packed granular snow conditions, but I was able to set my edges and ski at a good speed. The gentle First Slope had a moderately soft, coarse snow surface that was ideal for beginners and first timers.

I ran into a large group of people (pictured) from Iwate, Tokyo, Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Osaka, and Hyogo, who told me, “We love your site! We met up here and have been skiing since Monday.” In other news, 3/19 (Sun.) is a Kids Ski Free Day, where lift fares are waived for elementary school students and younger. On the same day, a PHOTO & JAM SESSION (\2,000 participation fee) will be held on the Sixth Slope.
