This morning I spoke with a couple from Osaka (pictured), who told me, “We love your site! We bought a Spring Season Pass and are staying in our car and skiing until the end of March. We’ll then go back home for around three days and return to ski in early April as long as there is snow.” The Spring Season Pass (¥40,000) is available from 3/1 (Wed.), and gives you up to 60 days of skiing thanks to Goryu47’s long season!
[Lower Portion of Route 1]
Today, like yesterday, it was a clear and windless day, perfect for skiing. As I skied down Line-C, I was impressed by the contrasting blue sky and white mountains of the Hakuba Sanzan (pictured) and Mt. Goryu, which were fully covered in snow once more thanks to the snowfall on 3/18 (Sat.). The groomed Route 8 (pictured) had a firmly-packed, granular snow surface that was fun to ski at high speed.
[Route 8]
I had to be careful not to pick up too much speed on Route 2 (pictured), where the steep slope had a tightly-packed, groomed granular snow surface. Conditions were similar on Routes 5, 6, and 7, but the surfaces there were softer, and getting damp in the areas with direct sunlight. In other news, tomorrow, 3/21 (Tues., holiday), a drone will be delivering Luis Pizza to the Line-C drop-off point for the “1450 Luis Pizza!” event that will take place starting at 11:00 a.m.
[Route 2]
I was greeted by a family from Shizuoka Prefecture (pictured) that said, “Now that I think about it, we check your site quite often. It used to take about 6 hours to get to Hakuba by car, but since the opening of the Chubu-Kansai Expressway, it only takes around 3 and a half. We hope to come more next season.” The big “COWDAY SLOPE” event is scheduled to be held here from 3/27 (Mon.) to 3/29 (Wed.)!
