The forecast was for clear skies, but light rain was falling during the morning. Following the heavy rainfall the night before last, all courses were left ungroomed yesterday, but with today being a weekend, the Skyline Course (pictured) and other normally groomed courses had been groomed. Very few people entered the resort from the Sakka area, and there were only two people on the Skyline 2 Pair just after the opening: myself and the person on the chair in front of me.

HAPPO PARKS will close for the season tomorrow, 3/26 (Sun.), and will host a final event, “HAPPO LINES,” with many guest riders starting at 10:00 a.m. I spoke with a snowboarder from Hakuba Village (pictured), who told me, “I love your site! There’s no one here today (lol). I’m planning to attend the event tomorrow as well.”

My skis slid well across the Kitaone 3 Slope, where the groomed area had a moderately loose, granular snow surface, making it easy to get between park elements. I saw a few people catching huge air off of the kickers. In early spring when it rains, snow parks are less crowded even on weekends, so it can actually be a good time to visit.

The groomed Skyline Course had a moderately soft, granular snow surface. Due to the rapidly melting snow, some soil was visible at the beginning and end of the course, but it didn’t have any effect on the skiing. In other news, superstars of the mogul world will gather for the “Super Final Camp 23” event, which will be held on 4/4 (Tue.) and 4/5 (Wed.) at the special course set up on the Usagidaira Slope!
