A couple from Niigata Prefecture who I met before the opening (Photo) gave me the greeting, “We always enjoy your reports. Today, we will join the gate training (Gate Club) of Smile Snowboard School. We come here often because the training environment is so good.” It was raining heavily at 6:30 a.m. when I arrived at Ura Taro Parking Area in the fog.

When I went to Stage 1 Lift which was open at 7:30 a.m, one of the patrol staff were put the poles around the ground exposed in the lower area on the skier’s right (Photo). Ura Taro Schi Heil was open only for private use today and tomorrow, so I moved to Ura Taro Family East. The groomed slope of Ura Taro Family East was nicely soft and in good corn snow condition.

The available courses in Taro Area now are Ura Taro Family East, West, Usagi, Kamoshika, Super Racer, Shirogane Rinkan and Hinode (These slopes can be moved to each other). In contrast to the crowded slopes in Ura Taro Area, Hinode (Photo) was so quiet that I felt as if it was my private slope.

One of the lift staff of Hinode Lift said, “This will be open until 4/2 (Sun). I hope the snow will be fine until the last operation day.” The width of the courses reduced, but there were no parts where the ground was exposed. By the way, if you go back to Ura Taro from Hinode, you have to take Tengu Quad in Tengu Area from the beginner course in the middle of Hinode (*You have to take off your skis in some parts).
