This morning, a member of the ski resort staff told me, “I love your site. This season was a difficult year in terms of snowfall, but I think we had a good season with hotel guests and international guests coming back.” Later, several part-time staff members (pictured) told me, “It’s hard work every morning to put snow on the embarkation and disembarkation points of the lift stations!”

It does seems like its the beginning of the end for the season, but winter in Cortina is not over yet! There was an ample amount of groomed snow in front of the No. 5 Pair, where a large scale operation using grooming machines was conducted on 3/26 (Sun.) to bring more snow to the area. On the Ikenota Slope (pictured), I was able to repeat comfortable turns on the moist, granular snow surface first thing in the morning.

The ungroomed Hiedayama Course 1 (pictured) had irregular, medium-sized moguls, and a lane further down towards the end of the course with large-sized moguls. The snow loosened up as the day went on, making it easier to navigate the area. The Itadaira Course had a moderately soft, ungroomed and uneven surface.

A snowboarder (pictured) from Nagano’s Ina City told me, “I’m a fan of Snownavi, and a season ticket holder at Cortina. I read your slope report and saw that there was still some snow, so I came out to ski.” The Hiedayama Rinkan Course (pictured) was groomed with a moderately loose surface layer of granular snow, that became thicker the further I skied down.
