It was a beautiful day for skiing with clear skies, no wind, and plenty of smiling faces. I ran into a skier from Hyogo Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “I love your site! I often come out to Hakuba to ski. I’m going to enter the workforce this spring, so this might be the last time I can ski on such a peaceful weekday. From the Riesen Grat, there were beautiful views of the Hakuba Sanzan (three peaks of Hakuba) and the Northern Alps.

At 9:10, the Riesen Grat (first photo) had a groomed, crusty snow surface. An hour earlier, at 8:10, the Panorama Course (pictured) had a moderately soft, granular snow surface. A family from Hyogo Prefecture greeted me, saying, “We love Snownavi! We’re staying in Hakuba from 3/28 (Tue.) to 4/2 (Sun.) and skiing at various resorts.”

The southern portion of Usagidaira had a groomed, crusty snow surface, while the groomed, north-facing area along the Kurobishi 2 Quad had a noticeably firmer granular snow surface. A mother from Chiba Prefecture (pictured, right) told me, “I love your site. I am a Happo season ticket holder. My daughter and I visit Happo 2 to 3 times a month to ski.”

I had a chat with a father (pictured) from far-away Tochigi Prefecture who told me he was a fan of Snownavi and that he usually goes to resorts in Fukushima Prefecture but came to Hakuba this time for skiing as well as sightseeing. He added, “My fourth-grade son (pictured, left) is enjoying the moguls.” Afterward, I watched as the son impressively navigated the large moguls along the Alpine Quad.
