The season seemed like to be back in Shibu-toge (Photo) where had the white slopes and frozen trees. While almost half of the ski areas in Japan were closed by 3/26 (Sun) because of the warmness and rain in March, “over 80% areas are open” in Shiga Kogen until 4/2 (Sun) still! After 4/3 (Mon), there are many courses open as well.
[Gemut Course, Shibu-toge]
I went up to the summit area of Mt. Yokote (Altitude 2,307m) by riding Mt. Yokote No.1 Sky, No.2 Sky and No.3 Sky this morning. No.1 Area (Photo) in the bottom still had much snow and the slope was groomed well. By the way, No.2 Sky Lift will start the early morning operation, open at 6:00 a.m, on weekends in April and during the Golden Week Holidays (Except for 5/1 and 5/2).
[No.1 Area, Mt. Yokote]
A skier from Azumino City in Nagano Prefecture gave me the greeting, “I always enjoy your reports. Today, the corn snow slopes are hard.” It was very cold, -3 degrees, this early morning, and the groomed slope of No.2 Area was very firm and in fine corn snow condition.
[No.2 Area, Mt. Yokote]
4 people from Aichi Prefecture (Photo) said, “The slopes and snow are so amazing!” One of them also said, “I came today for a one day trip. I will also come tomorrow for a one day trip with another group.” The clouds were moving from the west to the east and the blue sky spread out gradually.
