“The 23-24 NEW MODEL BLASTRACK TEST RIDE” (pictured) is being held from 3/31 (Fri.) to 4/2 (Sun.) in front of the Usagidaira Terrace. At the venue, about 25 sets of each of the 14 new models for next season, which will be available in stores around June, are on standby. After presenting a driver’s license or another form of identification at the reception desk, visitors can test ride as many models as they like for a maximum of 30 minutes per model.

My skis had no trouble sliding across the soft, groomed granular snow of the Panorama, Usagidaira, and Kurobishi slopes. I spoke with two people (pictured) from Osaka and Matsumoto, who told me, “We love your site! It took about 9 hours to get here from Osaka without using the highways, and we’re going back tomorrow via the same route. We’re going to be exhausted back at work on Monday (lol).”

I ran into members of the SC ULLR ski club from Hyogo, Kyoto, and Aichi prefectures. They told me they were fans of Snownavi, and added, “Last week we skied in the rain, but today the weather is great. Some of our members had their pictures taken at Shiga Kogen on 3/19 (Sun.) for a Snownavi report. Our club is also looking for new members!” It was nice talking with so many people on the slopes today.

Happo is investing in the spring skiing season as well, and today marked the opening of the Usagidaira Kids Park on the south side of the Usagidaira Terrace! (*Free of charge, open from 10:00 – 3:00, scheduled to open on Saturdays and Sundays and daily from 4/28 to 30 and 5/3 to 7) Shuttle buses will also operate on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, and the gondola may start running early at 7:30 a.m., as it did this morning. However, due to the rapid progress of the spring snowmelt this year, the Riesen Slalom Course will close at 11:45 a.m. tomorrow.
