Super Final Camp 2023, a two-day mogul camp featuring some of the world’s top mogul athletes, is underway, taking place over two days today and tomorrow. The camp consists of lessons (pictured) on the mogul slope along the Alpen Quad, demonstration runs, autograph sessions, and a talk show with the top mogul athletes and the mayor of Hakuba Village.

The event brought together some of the best mogul athletes in the world, including Ikuma Horishima (pictured), bronze medalist in the freestyle skiing men’s mogul competition at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Mikael Kingsbury, currently ranked No. 1 in the world in moguls, and Walter Walberg, a gold medalist at the Beijing Olympics. In related news, Ikuma Horishima will be holding his own independent camp in Happo (with the support of National Demonstrater Junya Maruyama) on 4/22 (Sat.) and 4/23 (Sun.).!

After a demonstration run at 8:50 a.m. to introduce the athletes, the campers were divided into groups to begin the skills camp. Horishima’s group held their lessons on Kurobishi, while Anri Kawamura (pictured, second from the left) and Nick Page (third from the left) carefully watched each student’s runs and gave advice on Usagidaira.

The six slopes that can still be skied as of the closing of the Riesen Slalom Course on the morning of 4/2 (Sun.) are Grat, Kurobishi, Usagidaira, Skyline, Urakuro, and Panorama. During the morning, all of the groomed areas had moderately soft granular snow surfaces. On the slopes, I spoke with four visitors from Yamanashi Prefecture, who told me, “We love your site. We’re here enjoying spring skiing in the Hakuba area.”
