Spring season is not only a time for skiing, but also for enjoying the dining, lodging, and other sightseeing in the area! The snow has completely disappeared from the roads at the foot of the mountain, and a visit to the HAKUBA VALLEY no longer requires four-wheel drive or studless tires. In fact, Snownavi’s reporters have already changed from snow to summer tires, with the exception of our reporter who covers Shiga Kogen.

Blue skies were visible around 6:00 a.m., but afterward, clouds began to roll in from the west and strong winds began to blow across the upper portion of the ski resort, forcing the gondola to temporarily suspend operations. It was able to start at 8:35, and as I got off, I overheard two skiers (pictured) calling out, “Hey, it’s Snownavi!”

I spoke with a skier from Aichi Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “I love your site. I suspect the snow won’t last until Golden Week, so I took some time off work and came out to ski. I was pretty worried there for a minute when the gondola was shut down due to the winds (lol).” The area along the Kurobishi 2 Quad (pictured) was groomed with a loosely-packed granular snow surface right from the morning, and it seemed that the Asian Dust that had settled on the snow was making my skis slide a little less efficiently.

Another skier from Kochi Prefecture (pictured) said they were a fan of Snownavi, and added, “The Asian Dust turned the snow a crazy color. I always stay at Hakuba Marchen House when I come out. It’s always a very comfortable stay.” The snow cover on the Skyline Course is about 4m wide, and I found the narrow area and the soft spring snow great for practicing short turns.
