This morning I ran into the owner (pictured, left) of Cafe Hinoki, located in Omachi’s Onsekyo area, who told me, “When I heard that Snownavi was coming to report on Happo today, I decided to come out as well. I’m glad I brought my handmade sign (lol). We are offering a ¥50 discount on Himalayan Chai (*until 4/30 (Sun.)) for those who mention that they saw this offer on Snownavi. Please come!”

It rained heavily two nights ago, and the lifts were closed all day yesterday due to strong winds, but this morning we were blessed with calm, clear skies. One person called out to me, “Snownavi, keep up the good work!” They added, “I figured it was inevitable that melting snow would expose the ground on the early part of Usagidaira (pictured) and on the east side of Kurobishi, but I was pretty shocked to see a crater on the west side of Usagidaira as well.”

The groomed granular snow surfaces on the southern portion of Usagidaira (pictured) as well as the area along the Kurobishi 2 Quad were loosely packed and soft from the beginning of the day. People were commenting to me about how hot it felt and even suggesting that I take my jacket off. It was so warm that I was sweaty even after skiing just a little.

The moguls along the Kurobishi 3 Pair (pictured, background) also featured loose snow that made them easy to engage. The groomed snow on the Panorama Course was about the width of a single grooming machine at both the beginning and the end of the run. It was fun navigating the course as it narrowed and widened narrowing and widening in accordance with the steepness of the terrain. By the way, the next report on 4/23 (Sun.) will be the last report of the season for Happo!
