Today I caught up with a HAKUBA SKI CONCIERGE instructor (pictured), who told me, “I love your site! In honor of Christmas, I bought a green jacket and a Santa hat at Don Quijote, and I’ll be giving my lessons in this outfit today.” The snow that had been falling early in the morning had stopped by 8:00 a.m., and blue skies began to spread overhead.

The amount of new snow was around 10cm at both the gondola base station (first photo) and the summit station, while routes 5 (pictured) and 6 had moderately firm, groomed power snow surfaces that made turns effortless! In other news, jib elements items were added to 47PARKS on 12/23 (Sat.).

Visitors raced off of Line-C first thing this morning and headed towards the upper portion of Route 1 (pictured), where the well-packed groomed snow surface was covered with 10 to 15 cm of silky fresh snow. I could hear people shouting with joy and exclaiming how good the powder felt. I found the snow to be almost too light to give me any real float, but I enjoyed the feeling of my skis cutting through the fresh snow.

I shared a ride on Line-C with a skier from Canada living in Nagoya who said, “Merry Christmas! The groomers feel so good! I’ve been staying at Schole Hakuba for four nights since the day before yesterday. It’s a great place to stay with a nice hot spring bath.” By the way, thanks to everyone who wished me “Merry Christmas” on the slopes and from the lifts today.
