Early this morning I spoke with a snowboarder from Iiyama City (pictured), who told me, “Good morning Snownavi! The groomed Paradise run first thing in the morning is so nice! The quality of the snow is great.” Madarao Kogen has expanded its open courses to a total of 16, thanks to the Super Quad, No. 11 Lift (triple), No. 12 Lift (pair), and No. 15 Lift (triple) beginning operation on 12/25 (Mon.)!

It was a cloudless, windless start to the day, and Crystal (pictured) was groomed to its full width with a well-packed powder snow surface. There were a few spots with thin snow at the beginning of the run, but the wide course enabled me to easily avoid them.

As I rode the No. 15 Lift to the Sky View Course, I was moved by the beautiful contrast between the rime ice and the blue sky. Sky View (pictured) was groomed with a moderately firm powder snow surface that felt softer than Crystal. I skied leisurely through the forest on the early part of the run (pictured) and had fun with the bowl-shaped terrain in the middle section of the course where the slope angle changes.

I really enjoyed my run on Sky View, so I decided to go back for another by taking the No. 11 Lift back to the No. 15 Lift. There were not many skiers, so the groomed corduroy surface lasted quite a while. Sky Love was left ungroomed, and had hard packed, irregular surface bumps. Around 9:00 a.m., the Paradise Slope began to bustle with groups of young students.
