REPORT

Due to the heavy snowfall beginning on 1/7 (Sun.), enough snow had accumulated on the slopes by 1/8 (Mon., holiday) to allow each of Kurohime’s courses to be groomed. It took a while, but Kurohime Kogen Snow Park is now truly fully open! The snow was so good, and my edges gripped and held the groomed powder snow surface of Leo (pictured) so well, that the level of my skiing seemed to improve.

I hopped on the No. 2 Pair as it started moving at 9:30 a.m. and took it to Mouse (Max. 25 degrees, Avg. 14 degrees, Length 600 meters), at the top of the ski resort. I was impressed seeing skiers and boarders sending up plumes of snow behind them as they sped across the powder snow surface, which was groomed more tightly than on Leo. The snow on the ungroomed slopes Snake and Rabbit remained soft and fluffy.

I rann into a snowboarder living in the town of Shinano who greeted me saying, “Wait, you’re with Snownavi! You finally came out to Kurohime. There still is not much snow and the shape of the underlying terrain is still discernable on the snow surface, but that’s fun too.” I too enjoyed the irregular rise and fall of the terrain at the end of Leo and Monkey (pictured).

I spoke with a groom from the local Kurohime Highland area who was in the midst of a pre-wedding photo shoot said. He told me, “I’m glad we were blessed with good weather. I guess it’s because I’ve been doing daily good deeds.” Congratulations on your marriage! The calm blue sky and pure white slopes seemed to a sign that the couple’s new beginning was blessed.
