REPORT

This morning I crossed paths with an instructor from the TAJ-accredited Schneeberg Telemark & Alpine Ski School and their student from Tokyo (pictured). The instructor told me they were a fan of Snownavi, and added, “Today I’m giving a lesson oriented towards backcountry skiing.” Like yesterday, today was another perfect day to be on the slopes, with clear skies and no wind.

Later on I met a woman from Matsumoto (pictured, right) who was also in the middle of a lesson. She told me, “I’ve checked the Snownavi site before. I joined the Kamoshika Snowboard School last year and liked it so much that I came back this year to take more lessons.” The instructor (pictured, left) added, “Our schedule is pretty open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so it’s a great chance to take one-on-one lessons! We are looking forward to seeing you.”

The Carving Slope (pictured) was groomed with a well-compacted wet snow surface, though in the shaded area to skiers’ right, the snow had a powdery feel. The groomed Paradise Slope and Lake Down Course were also easy to ski, with both featuring firm, “powdery” groomed wet snow bases. The New Paradise Slope was also groomed this morning.

With strong, direct sunshine reaching the slopes, the snow had begun to loosen up by 10:00 a.m. In other news, the hotel located along the Lake Down Course has reopened this season as the WHITE HOTEL GRAND HAKUBA, and is now directly managed by the Ski Resort! I went there the other day to gather information for a report, and will introduce it here soon.
