REPORT

Today, while it was overcast or cloudy in the morning across the HAKUBA VALLEY, it was sunny at Madarao Kogen to the east. Today marks the 4th straight day of sunny skies, but the temperature remained low, and the groomed slopes, including Paradise (pictured), have maintained their good, powdery condition.

The groomed Champion run (pictured) had a well-pressed powder snow base, and although I could feel the outermost surface starting to loosen slightly, I enjoyed skiing at a good speed. Soon after, I ran into a snowboarder from Iiyama, whom I often meet at Madarao, who told me, “I love your site. Conditions are great again today!”

I later crossed paths with some instructors from the Madarao Sports Academy (pictured), who were warming up. They told me, “We love your site! It’s good skiing conditions today. Come take a lesson with us on Madarao’s good slopes. We’re looking forward to seeing you here.” The Shirakaba and Utopia courses were also easy to ski, with moderately firm, groomed powder snow surfaces.

Crystal (pictured) had a well-packed, groomed “powdery” wet snow surface, as did the narrowly-groomed connecting run leading from Crystal to the No. 1 Pair and Super Quad boarding areas. By the time I finished my report at 10:00 a.m., the number of clouds was steadily increasing across the sky.
