Along with the continued cold temperatures, the rime ice has continued to build up on the trees throughout the upper portion of the resort. The early morning sky today was clear, but clouds began to build and spread around 8:00 a.m., and the sun disappeared behind them some 30 minutes later. As of 9:30 a.m., parking on the Euclid side of the resort was roughly 90% full, while the parking on the west side of the gondola base station was about half full.

My skis slid well on the well-packed, groomed wet snow of Route 2 (pictured), and I was able to get up to speed comfortably. Most people headed for the upper portion of Route 1 first thing in the morning, so fresh-groomed corduroy was available on Route 2 for quite a while.

The hard, wet snow surface of the steep ungroomed slope from the end of Route 2 down to the gondola summit station was marked with surface tracks and moguls. Route 5 and Route 6 had similar conditions to Route 2, with nice, firm, easy-to-ski groomed wet snow. In other news, 47PARKS has fully re-opened today with the number of park elements increasing to 24, including a 10-meter kicker in the advanced lane!

The upper and lower portions of the groomed Route 8 had similarly firm wet snow surfaces. There was a large pile of man-made snow on the skiers’ left side early on the lower part of Route 1. Overall, it was hard-packed, groomed wet snow conditions, but not so hard to lose your edge, and in general easy to ski.
