This morning I ran into three visitors from Ibaraki Prefecture, who told me, “Yesterday we were surrounded by thick fog and couldn’t see anything. It’s cloudy today, but at least the visibility is good.” The trees on the top half of the resort have been continually covered in rime ice since 2/2 (Fri.), and the air was quite cold again this morning! I felt my hands getting numb when I stopped to take pictures.
[Grand Prix Course]
The Grand Prix Course (pictured) and Panorama Course were groomed with firm wet snow surfaces. The Grand Prix Course had a disproportionately high amount of advanced snowboarders, so much so that it looked like a gathering of the top riders in a technical competition. The slope had an impressively flat finish, and I watched as one rider after another carved deep turns across the run.

The Dynamic Course (pictured) was also groomed, but with snow that was wetter and firmer than Grand Prix. It was there that a snowboarder asked me, “How do I get to the gondola station?” I told hime that you can reach the gondola (Telecabin) by taking the Woody Course or the Expert Course, a steep ungroomed slope with a maximum slope angle of 35°, to the Toomi Slope, and down from there.

I overhead the conversations of people riding the Alps 1st (pictured) and 3rd pair lifts who were saying how beautiful the scenery was, and noticed some people taking pictures of the rime ice. In other news, snow is forecasted today and tomorrow due to a low pressure system off the southern coast, and dry snow started falling at the ski resort around 9:45 a.m.
