At the Ura Taro base area today, test ride events were taking place for 2024-25 models from ATOMIC (pictured), BLIZZARD, NORDICA, and Myoko Renzan. And to remind you once again, 27 brands will be represented at the JSP_SKI FORUM ON SNOW 2024, which is set to be held on 2/17 (Sat.) and 2/18 (Sun.)! This morning, Ura Taro Family East was groomed with a moderately firm, wet snow surface that was easy to ski.

Going back to Sugadaira Pine Beak at 7 a.m., athletes competing in the 2024 Sugadaira Kogen South Kanto Bloack FIS Masters Skiing Competition were warming up on both the Friend Course and GO-no-hara Course (pictured) in advance of the 9:00 a.m. start time. Both courses featured groomed, moderately firm wet snow surfaces, and snow was falling and being carried by a northwesterly wind at that time, but came to a stop around 9:30.

The SAJ-certified Champion Course, Alpine Course, and Dogleg Course were all closed to the general public this morning in conjunction with the competition. In addition, the slalom (pole) slope and the White Peak course were exclusive to those with reservations. The Family Course was groomed with a wet snow surface that was harder than GO-no-hara.

Later on I checked out Restaurant Wing, which is located on the first floor of the Sugadaira Sun Hotel at the base of the Ura Taro Slope. Their ramen features large sheets of nori seaweed and comes in several varieties. The Shoyu Ramen (pictured, soy sauce base, JPY1.300) includes homemade chashu pork, a whole cooked egg, plenty of mizuna (Japanese mustard greens), and fine strips of leek. Shinshu Soba Ramen (JPY1,300) is another option, with the same soup base and ingredients, but with soba noodles instead of Chinese noodles.
