Shirakaba-ko Royal Hill, which boasts clear skies more than 80% of the time, received heavy snowfall from 2/5 (Mon.) to 2/6 (Tue.) thanks to a low pressure system along the southern coast of Japan! I ran into two snowboarders from Matsumoto (pictured), who said, “Hey, are you with Snownavi? We didn’t expect to see you at Royal Hill! We usually go to Hakuba, but the weather and snow quality looked good, so we came to board at Royal Hill today.”
[Panorama B Course]

The groomed Panorama B Course (first photo) had moderately soft powder snow conditions! The Panorama C Course (pictured) was also groomed, and though it was icy in the areas where artificial snow had been applied, the rest of the course had a moderately soft surface that was easy to ski. The ungroomed Free Ride Area (pictured, top right) between Panorama B and C was also in good condition with soft surface snow.

I had a conversation with a ski school instructor (pictured) who took the No. 1 Quad with me, and was told, “Yesterday everything was white with fog, but I enjoyed the powder. Today, the clear, blue skies feel fantastic! Royal Hill has great views of the Southern Alps, the Central Alps, Mt. Asama, and more.” The atmosphere grew festive students on a school excursion started their lessons around 9:00 a.m.

The Raicho Course (pictured), Alpine Course, and Family Course were groomed with moderately firm powder snow bases. The Alpine Course is now open for night skiing from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. every day until 3/17 (Sun.). Grooming is re-done at the end of the daytime operation, giving you the chance to ski on fully-reset slopes. Also this season, the “Kids Plus Premium” program is being offered again, with up to two lift tickets for elementary school students or younger included with the purchase of a lift ticket for someone of junior high school age or older!
