Happo Alpine Ale (pictured, 330 ml, ¥850), an original beer that went on sale at Cafeteria YETI and OAKLEY TERRACE last month, has been very well received! This beer is made with Koshihikari rice grown in Hakuba Village along with natural spring water from Omachi City, and is brewed slowly with four types of hops for a rich yet refreshing taste. Hyoga (glacier) Lager and Hyoga IPA, from the same Kita Alps Brewery, are also available at YETI.

Light snow was falling this morning, with intermittent glimpses of blue sky. Skiing conditions were good on the Riesen Slalom Course, where the moderately firm, groomed powder snow surface was topped with 1 to 2 cm of light, fresh snow. The Shirakaba Slope had a groomed wet snow base with small clumps of snow scattered across the surface.

The groomed southern route of Usagidaira had hard wet snow to start, but transitioned to a firm, powder snow surface later on that was easy to ski. The ungroomed area along the Alpen Quad had about 10 cm of fluffy fresh snow.

I ran into some students from Yokohama (pictured), who told me they had run into a Snownavi reporter previously. The student in the center of the photo added, “I have been working part-time at a lodge at the base of the mountain since my freshman year. My friends came out to ski today and tomorrow.” The moderately firm, groomed powder snow along the Kurobishi Quad had the best conditions early this morning.
