On 2/5 (Mon.), a low-pressure system off the southern coast of Japan brought around 30 cm of fresh snow to Madarao Kogen, which has a total of 30 courses open, ranging from groomed runs to ungroomed slopes and tree areas! It was a comfortable morning, with high clouds and sunshine reaching the slopes.

I had a conversation with a season-ticket-holding couple from Chiba Prefecture (pictured), who told me, “We love your site, and we also follow your Instagram! The snow quality is good today, so we’re going to try and get as much skiing in as we can. We also hope to find some leftover POW in the tree areas.” Paradise (pictured) was groomed with a moderately soft powder snow surface that was easy to ski.

The groomed lower part of Giant (pictured) had a similar, moderately soft powder snow base that was easy to set my edges and turn on. I rode the Super Quad with the owner of AKI’S BURGER, who told me, “We got a little fresh snow again last night. The groomed snow on Champion first thing this morning felt great, and wasn’t too hard or too soft.”
The bottom half of Crystal was groomed with a reasonably firm powder snow base. After taking the No. 15 Lift up as it opened at 9:00 a.m., I descended down to Sky Love (pictured), which felt like skiing through a magical tunnel of ice-covered trees. I overheard visitors exclaiming how beautiful and amazing it was. I slowed down and leisurely cruised the softly groomed powder snow while enjoying the incredible view.
