The new snowfall that accompanied the passage of a low-pressure system along the southern coast on 2/5 (Mon.) and the persistent low temperatures typical of this part of the season have kept the slopes in good condition. Monkey (pictured) was groomed with moderately soft powder snow, and large fresh tracks were drawn across the wide gentle slope on this cloudy morning.

I spoke with a wife from Kyoto who was playing ball with Sora (pictured, center), Shi-chan (pictured, right), and Dok-kun (pictured, left) at the Dog Run. She told me, “I came to Kurohime for the first time last season and loved that there was a course where I could ski with my dogs, and the fact that the lift was equipped with a special carrier that makes it easy for the dogs to ride. My husband is currently skiing on the Dog Course with our other dog, Misora-chan.” The Dog Course, where you can ski with your dog on a leash, was groomed with moderately soft powder snow just like the Monkey Course.

I also ran into a representative of the Kurohime Snowboarding School, who told me they were holding lessons to help students prepare for the TECH TEST coming up next weekend. One of the guys taking a lesson commented, “The slope is immaculately groomed and very easy to ski.”

Leo (third photo) and Blackbird (pictured) both had moderately firm powder snow bases, and Blackbird was hosting the Kurohime Ski School’s 1st and 2nd level badge tests. A student (pictured skiing, left) who had just finished skiing told me that the flat finish made the conditions ideal. During my time at the resort, the sky grew increasingly cloudy, and snow started to fall around 12:00 p.m.
