The HASCO Test Ride event is being held today and tomorrow at the top of Iwatake. (*Free of charge, starts at 9:00 a.m.) I spoke with a member of the event staff (pictured), who told me, “All of the latest models are on hand. Please take this opportunity to come and give them a try.” The same test event will take place again on 2/13 (Tue.) and 2/14 (Wed.).

I ran into a digger from the IWATAKE SNOW PARK that greeted me and said, “The start of the 5-sen South was delayed, but we’re happy to have it running safely now. (It started at 9:00.) The park is in good shape and we look forward to welcoming everyone.” It was a beautiful clear morning, and the edges of each item were sharp and crisp thanks to careful maintenance.
[South Slope]

The groomed East Slope (pictured), South slope, and Sawa Course all had moderately firm, groomed powder snow. I was greeted by a couple from Matsumoto (pictured), who told me, “We love your site! We figured it would be crowded as the three-day weekend got into full swing, so we came out to ski on the first day.”

A father (pictured, center) of a family from Tokyo also told me he was a fan of Snownavi, and added, “I bought advance discount lift tickets for Iwatake’s S-Class from Snownavi, and today is my first time to use them. My wife (pictured, right) is looking forward to relaxing in the S-Class lounge.” The Sunny Valley course had a groomed wet snow base that was moderately firm at the start, firmer in the middle where artificial snow had been mixed into the surface, and slightly less firm again at the end of the run. Despite the different surface snow conditions, it was easy to ski from top to bottom.
