As part of the “Happy Valentine’s Day Event” taking place on 2/10 (Sat.) and 2/11 (Sun.), each person picking up their lift ticket at the ticket center received an original Tirol Chocolate. (*Limited to the first 400 customers each day.) The morning was blessed with clear skies, and advanced skiers lined up for the NINJA lift hoping to find some lingering fresh snow from the heavy snowfall caused by the low pressure system off the southern coast on 2/5 (Mon.).

I had fun carving fresh tracks on the wide, groomed slope of Blackbeat, where the firm powder snow surface was extremely easy to ski. The same powdery conditions were found on the Ukai Shinobu Course. The ungroomed Alekoko had 20 to 25 cm of fresh snow with a thin layer of surface crust, but plenty of fluffy snow below. As soon as the REWILD lift started moving at 9:00 a.m., tracks began to appear on the ungroomed surface of REWILD (pictured). Like Alekoko, the outermost layer was crusty, but below lied 20 to 30 cm of fluffy, new snow. The groomed Shinko, with its moderately firm powder snow base, was every bit as easy to ski as Blackbeat.

It was similar conditions on Gomarugo, where there was a triple tabletop (pictured) in the middle of the course. In other news, the ON SNOW JAM event scheduled to be held on 2/23 (Fri.) and 2/24 (Sat.). During the event, you can test ride and/or try on snowboards and various other gear, and make reservations or purchases!
