On the second and third days of the three-day weekend, we were able to enjoy 10 to 15 cm of fresh snow. At 8:30 this morning, the temperature in Usagidaira was -6℃, but it didn’t feel that cold since there was almost no wind. The groomed southern route of Usagidaira had 3 to 5 cm of light fresh snow on top of a moderately packed powder base, but I had to ski carefully because of the thick fog.

On the Panorama Course, which sits a little lower on the mountain, the fog melted away quickly, and I was able to draw fresh tracks through the 3 to 10 cm of light fresh snow that topped the moderately soft, groomed powder surface. I heard a person on the Kokusai 3 Pair Lift who came from the Kokusai 1 Pair saying, “It looks so good. Nice!”

The ungroomed areas along the Kurobishi 3 Pair and Alpen Quad, as well as on the Skyline Course had 10 to 15 cm of fresh snow, and the soft underlying terrain made them easily manageable. The best conditions this morning were along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured), where the moderately firm, groomed powder snow surface was topped with 5 to 10cm of fresh snow, giving me the best of both worlds.

I ran into a group of five people from Mie and Kanagawa prefectures (pictured), who told me, “We love your site! We’ve been staying in Hakuba for the full three-day weekend. We’re happy that Happo came through for us with good snow yesterday and today!” This three-day weekend is the busiest of the season, and yesterday the signs at each of the parking lots indicated that they were full.
