Early this morning I spoke with two visitors (pictured) from Aichi and Shiga prefectures, who told me they had used the Snownavi site before, and added, “Our friend told us that Sanosaka was good, so we came out today for the first time.” When I ran into them again later, they said, “The slopes are groomed nicely and there aren’t many people so it’s nice to be able to board freely. We really like it here.”

The rain from yesterday has almost fully stopped, and this morning there was only a light drizzle. The Carving Slope (first photo) had a groomed, moderately packed coarse snow base, and the Lake Down Course (pictured), which I skied afterwards around 9:00, had was also groomed with granular snow that had a relatively higher moisture content. Both were well maintained, and I found the conditions easy to ski.

I crossed paths with a group of four from Shizuoka Prefecture (pictured) who told me that they came to Sanosaka for the first time on a package tour with Orion Tour that includes accommodation in the Omachi Onsenkyo hot spring area. They told me that it was only their second time snowboarding, and that the first time was at Shiga Kogen just last week. They added, “We’re still not that good, but we’re having fun!” The Paradise Slope (fourth photo) was also groomed, with a moist granular snow surface that my skis slid well across.

I also chatted with another group of four people from Aichi (two pictured here), that similarly said it was their first visit to Sanosaka, and that they too came with Orion Tours. There seem to be quite a few people at Sanosaka who are in their 20’s and use Orion Tour! In other news, the OGASAKA SNOWBOARDS NEW MODEL TEST RIDE SESSION will be held this weekend on 2/24 (Sat.) to 2/25 (Sun.). (*Free of charge, starts at 10:00.)
