The groomers were at work right until the start of business at Madarao this morning, and each of the groomed runs had fantastic conditions thanks to the 5 to 10 cm of dry, fresh snow that was mixed into the surfaces! I spoke with six guests from Tokyo (pictured), who told me, “We came here today and will stay overnight. The groomed Paradise Slope was so nice early this morning!”

Moreover, the frost-covered trees throughout the entire ski resort this morning were spectacular! On a day like this, even with poor snow conditions, the tree run courses can be very enjoyable. At SAWA1 (pictured), against the background of skis and snowboards scraping against the hard, uneven base, I heard people exclaiming how beautiful the scene was and how much fun they were having.

While riding the Super Quad, No. 12 Lift (pictured), and No. 15 Lift, I enjoyed the mystical scenery created by the frost and fog. Paradise and Giant had moderately firm, groomed surfaces with a mix of granular and powder snow that felt powdery overall. Crystal was also groomed with a moderately-packed powder snow base that was hard-packed in a few small spots, but really nice overall! (*There was a layer of granular snow below the surface that my edges hit if I dug them in deep.)

It was a busy day at Madaro, as you would expect on the second day of a three-day weekend. By 10:30 the snow had stopped falling and blue skies began to appear. By the way, today, 2/24 (Sat.), will be the last night skiing day of the season. The No. 1 Lift 1 and No. 2 Quad will be operational, and Paradise, Beginner A & B, Utopia, and the lower portion of Giant will be skiable until 9:00 p.m.
