Here’s what’s been happening at Ninja during this second three-day weekend in February. The ON SNOW JAM (pictured) was held at the base area on 2/23 (Fri., holiday) and 2/24 (Sat.), and the event gave visitors the chance to test ride snowboards, yuki-ita, and snowscoots, as well as to try on, reserve, and purchase outerwear, hats, boots, and more.

A special park for testing out snowboards, yuki-ita, and snowskates was built next to the NINJA rest area. I spoke with customers and staff member of Local Bond (pictured), who had an exhibition booth, and was told, “We love your site! Local Bond is a clothing brand from Omachi City at the foot of the Northern Alps.”

I also caught up with the father of a girl from Tokyo (pictured) who was playing on the “Panorama Long Swing” located at the upper portion of Alekoko, who said, “I’m a big fan of Snownavi, and even bought a season pass through you! I’m skiing with friends and family who live here this three-day weekend.” The swing proved to be very popular during the three-day weekend.

Snow started falling during the morning today, 2/25 (Sun.), the last day of the holiday weekend. The warm temperatures and rain during the week last week had wrecked the snow quality, but the cold weather during the three-day weekend improved things, and the open runs were back to wet snow with a little granular snow mixed in. Blackbeat, Drago (pictured, background), Gomarugo (pictured, foreground), Shine, and Ukai Shinobu were easy to ski due to their moderately firm, groomed bases, while Sasuke and Alekoko, which were ungroomed, had difficult, hard packedf and uneven surfaces.
