The rime ice, fog, and freshly falling snow created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the resort, and as I rode the NINJA lift first thing this morning, a father and son from Nagano City noticed my camera and waved to me (pictured). NINJA is continuing it’s unique Saturday, Sunday, and holiday only operation, and had a typically busy weekend crowd by around 9:00 a.m.

On days like this, I like to take the winding forest course Gomaruko (pictured, MAX. 8 degrees, 1,800m long) and ski slowly while admiring the frost-covered trees. Blackbeat and Alekoko along the NINJA lift were groomed with a “powdery” wet snow surface that was moderately firm and easy to ski.

I spoke with the mother (pictured) of a family from Tokyo, who told me, “I bought advance discount lift tickets through Snownavi. This is my first time at Ninja. The groomed Gomaruko and Blackbeat slopes were a little hard for us, but we had a great time.” Shinko and Nirei were groomed with a nice and soft wet snow base that felt very much like powder.

Tomorrow, 2/4 (Sun.), Ninja will hold a Junior Camp Taught by Professionals for elementary and junior high school students, and the following weekend, on 2/10 (Sat.) and 2/11 (Sun.), there will be a Happy Valentine’s Day Event, where the first 400 visitors will receive original ninja chocolates. In addition, from 2/23 (Fri., holiday) to 2/24 (Sat.), the ON SNOW JAM will be held, where you can try out and reserve models of next season’s snowboards, outerwear, etc. (*Click here for a full list of events.)
