Nomugitouge REPORT

2024.02.2435cm / Mostly Sunny

First thing this morning, I spoke with a ski resort staff member who told me, “Due to the rain, we were closed from 2/20 (Tue.) to 2/22 (Thu.), and because of melting snow, as of yesterday, 2/23 (Fri., holiday), there are only three courses that can be skied: Rabbit, Champion, and Bambi. However, we got some fresh snow yesterday and are back to a winter-like scenery!” Due to the reduction in the number of open courses, the price for 1-day lift tickets has been reduced to JPY2,000 for adults, seniors 60 years and older, and students, while those for elementary and junior high school students are priced at JPY500. (*Preschool children are free.)
[Champion Course]

I broke through the clouds while riding the Skyliner Lift, and as I did I had clear views of Mt. Norikura (pictured), Mt. Ontake, the Hotaka mountain range, and the sea of clouds. The Champion Course (pictured) and Rabbit Course were groomed and in good condition, as yesterday’s fresh snow had been mixed with the granular snow from before. My skis slid and my edges bit well into the moderately firm base.
[Champion Course]

There were no bushes visible on the Champion or Rabbit (pictured) courses. Moreover, the snow quality was surprisingly better than expected. There were a number of families skiing slowly on the Bambi Slope, where the groomed surface was a moderately soft mix of granular and fresh snow.
[Rabbit Course]

I had a conversation with a cosplayer from Nagano’s Suwa City who told me that they were a fan of Snownavi, and said that they were at Nomugi Toge for the first time in a long time, in advance of a cosplay event taking place at Mt. Norikura tomorrow. I was greeted by quite a number of people who told me were fans of Snownavi, and appreciated the kind words. The artificial snow machines were working on the Training Slope during the day, in an attempt to get it back up and running.
