This morning, even with the thin wispy clouds scattered across the sky, it was the first sunny day in 11 days since 2/18 (Sun.). Due to overnight radiative cooling, it was very cold on the upper portion of the slopes in the early morning (-10℃), but there was no wind and it was comfortable after the resort opened. The Riesen Slalom course was groomed with a firm, “powdery” wet snow base on the top half, and firm granular snow on the last part of the course.

The ungroomed areas along the Alpen Quad and Kurobishi 3 Pair had hard packed, medium to large-sized moguls. In other news, the first wave of entries for the BANKED SLALOM H-ONE event to be held on the Usagidaira Slope on 3/9 (Sat.) is now being open until 3/2 (Sat.). (*The second wave, which costs ¥500 more, will take place from 3/3 to 3/7.)

The southern portion of Usagidaira (second photo), the area along the Kurobishi Quad (pictured), and the Panorama Course (fourth photo) were all groomed with firm wet snow surfaces that felt like powder. Conditions were comfortable, especially along the Kurobishi Quad, where the widely-groomed slope made it easy to link turns at will.

The FIS Para Alpine Skiing-sanctioned 2024 Japan Para Alpine Skiing Championships is being held on the north side of the Panorama Course (pictured) from 2/29 (Thurs.) to 3/2 (Sat.). Tension was in the air behind the starting gates as the slalom competition, divided into standing and sitting categories, began at 9:00 a.m.
