Sugadaira REPORT

2024.02.29100cm / Sunny

The winter weather system that delivered a decent amount of fresh snow from 2/26 (Mon.) to 2/27 (Tues.) had moved on, and it was a sunny morning with thing cloud coverage. I ran into a group of three snowboarders from Aichi and Tokyo who told me they knew of Snownavi. One of the men (pictured, center) had a Goryu Night Model snowboard from THE DAY.HAKUBA, and told me, “I’m appreciative of the affordable price. I bought it to give it a try and it’s been very fun to ride, and I’ve taken a liking to it.”
[Davos East]

Both the groomed Davos East and Davos West courses (pictured), located in the southeast-facing Omote Davos area, had fantastic, moderately firm powder snow conditions! My edges gripped well and my skis slid smoothly, and I enjoyed skiing the super wide slopes freely. It was a weekday morning with few people around, and I had to smile when I saw my tracks in the snow while riding the Beat Lift (724m) back up.
[Davos West]

Going straight down from the Beat Lift takes you to the Oku Davos area, while skiing down the Omote Davos Panorama Course (pictured) takes you to the fully-open, gentle Ura Davos Slope. The Omote Davos Panorama, Ura Davos Heart-no-mori, and Ura Davos Skyline courses were all groomed with moderately firm powder snow bases.

Schneider’s Panorama, Panorama Beginner, and Hannes C had similar powder snow conditions, where the firmness of the groomed surfaces was just right for comfortable skiing. In other news, a cosplay event will be held at Shinshu Sugadaira Kogen Pine Beak Ski Resort on 3/3 (Sun.).
