REPORT

The upper portion of the ski resort was shrouded in thick fog, and slightly damp snow was falling along with a weak northerly wind. Leo (pictured), Blackbird, and the top half of Monkey had 1 to 2 cm of slightly heavy, fresh snow on top of moderately soft groomed powder snow surfaces. The ungroomed areas to the sides of the courses were topped with 5 to 10 cm of fresh snow.

Mouse, located at the top of the resort, had about 5 cm of new snow on top of a moderately firm, groomed powder snow base. The ungroomed Horse and Rabitt courses had pretty technical conditions, with somewhat heavier snow covering deep, hard-packed surface tracks and bumps. Leo (pictured), Blackbird, and the last part of Monkey were groomed with moderately firm, groomed wet snow.

The gentle slope in front of Cosmo Plaza has a conveyor belt that ferries you to the top, and is ideal for sledding and for children practicing skiing or snowboarding for the first time. I spoke with a father from Ueda City (pictured), who told me, “I love your site! It only takes about an hour from Ueda City to Kurohime on the highway, and the kids park is really well done, so we come here often to play.
[KUROHIME FAMILY PARK]

The moderately packed, groomed wet snow at the KUROHIME FAMILY PARK was covered with a thin layer of around 1 cm of fresh snow. Since it was a weekday, the resort was relatively uncrowded, and the groomed trails were still in good condition as of 11:30 a.m. The sound of dogs playing could be heard coming from the Snow Dog Area.
