An OGASAKA SNOWBOARDS Test Ride Event, organized by the Kurohime Snowboarding School, was held in front of Yellow Garden on 3/6 (Wed.) starting at 8:30 a.m. (*No charge to participate, ID required) A total of 40 snowboards representing 14 of next season’s models were on hand, and you could try as many as you wanted, up to 30 minutes per board.

A staff member told me, “We recommend the ORCA, which was fully remodeled last season. The board is on the wider size, and is easy to use for those with larger feet.” A snowboarder who was there taking test rides commented, “I have tried about 5 boards so far, and I am having trouble deciding which one to buy.”

Conditions were great on Leo and Monkey (pictured), with moderately firm, groomed wet snow surfaces. Thick fog began to form on the slopes around 11:00, but it didn’t limit visibility enough to affect the skiing. I ran into a couple from Nagano’s Saku City (pictured), who said, “We love your site! We enjoyed the slightly heavy powder first thing in the morning. We usually ski on weekends, but we took the day off work to come here for the test-ride event.”

I also crossed paths with a mother (pictured) from Yamanashi Prefecture. She told me, “We came to Kurohime because I thought it would be nice to have to take advantage of the free rentals of sleds and other items.” The sleds were running well in the KUROHIME FAMILY PARK (pictured), where the groomed wet snow surface was moderately packed.
